[GlitchHop] A brand new track from Ill Gates free to download

A fresh new track with an interesting video, and theres a story behind it...

Ill Gates:

This video came about both unexpectedly and fortuitously ... we had just cleaned up our rooftop when old friends iAmRurik and Creyote came by and just happened to feel like festooning every wall in our compound with their wild and amazing characters.

We decided to make a video for it using the thousands of photos we captured.

The song "My Special Place" seemed like a natural choice. My Special Place is a warm, personal and timeless song, the first to be premiered on ill.Gates' forthcoming album 'The ill.Methodology' (Muti Music, Spring 2011).

Please download and share "My Special Place" along with our special free pack of artwork, poetry and music.

Community Mural Project Proposal:

The city of Toronto is in the middle of a very ill-conceived crackdown on graffiti as our new mayor sees no distinction between murals and vandalism. We want to help change the public perception of street art in our city while strengthening our local community.

What we would like to do is get 5 floors of scaffolding and about 20 artists to paint a huge, highly visible wall in our community. We want to make a free event of it, having music and barbeque, and we want to invite members of the community to participate by setting up booths for both vending and networking on community issues such as the upcoming election.

We have all of the artists but we need art supplies and scaffolding.

[RnB] An interesting video from The Weeknd

The Weeknd - Glass Table Girls (off their new mixtape House of Baloons)

The Video is a scene taken from the first Robocop chopped up to flow with the songs rythm.
The lyrics are refering to a drink, "7 on 7" as in Seagrams 7 blended canadian whiskey and 7up.
The Weeknd is Abel Tesfaye, an RnB artist from Toronto, Canada. Abel started uploading songs to YouTube in 2010, and has sampled such artists as Beach House and Siouxsie and the Banshees. In March of 2011 he dropped his first mixtape, House Of Balloons. The vocals, sometimes sung and sometimes rapped, talk about ugly things in a pretty voice. Drake, the group’s citymate, toys with a similar aesthetic, but the Weeknd takes his ambivalent emotional tenor and stretches it out, building a whole worldview from it.

[Dubstep] Great new remix from a favourite artist

Blackmill started off producing music at the age of eight when he received his first musical instrument for his birthday: an acoustic guitar which he still plays to this day so look out for future tracks in this genre. At the age of 15 he started producing trance and uploading them to youtube under the alias "Robert J.C" As Dubstep grew throughout 2010 Blackmill took a shine to this new genre. Blackmill was quickly producing his own version of Dubstep, Melodic Dubstep. It's been proven to be a hit after he remixed Ellie Gouldings "Your Song" which took off straight away. Heres one of his latest remixs.

[Event] Andy C, voted #1 DnB DJ for 10 years in a row, showing up in Victoria

Andy C ~ Ram Records UK # 1 Drum and Bass dj in the world.

Venue info and support acts will be announced soon.

$ 30 Advance tickets will be available soon.

Andy Clarke began experimenting with programming breaks as a teenager; he met Ant Miles at the studios where he was working through a family connection. They began working together in Ant's converted garage studio where Andy nurtured what was to become a sublime talent for chopping up and re-programming breaks. Andy then decided to set up his own label in early 1992 with a budget of £1000. RAM - so named due to Andy's star sign, Aries - launched with his solo debut and now-highly-collectable 'Sour Mash EP'.

At the age of 15, together with Ant, Andy created magnum opus, 'Valley of the Shadows (31 Seconds)' under their Origin Unknown alias. Often referred to as the 'darkcore prototype', the track won Best Hardcore Tune at the 1993 Hardcore Dance Awards where Andy also collected the prize for Best Newcomer. By this time, his DJing career had begun to progress at a meteoric rate; he had a show on pirate station, Cyndicut FM and secured slots at key raves including Imagination, Club Elevation, Dreamscape, Innovation and Telepathy, where he became a resident. By 1994 together with Ant, he assumed another alias, Desired State, delivering masterpieces like 'Beyond Bass' and 'Here And Now'. In the same year, he began to branch out with collaborations, connecting with DJ Randall to create dancefloor smash, 'Sound Control'. Subsequent studio hook ups would involve Shimon and Moving Fusion.

Origin Unknown's 1997 album, 'Origin Unknown Presents...Speed Of Sound' won Best Dance Album at the Kiss FM Dance Awards and Best Album at the Hardcore Dance Awards, where Andy also collected the gong for Best Producer. The 1998 follow-up, 'Origin Unknown Presents...Sound In Motion', preceded the birth of RAM Trilogy; Andy C, Ant Miles and Shimon's studio hook up. In the same year Andy managed to slot in his Wednesday night radio show on London's Kiss FM between global DJing commitments. In 1999 & 2000, he took the award for Best DJ at the Knowledge Awards. His numerous high profile remix accomplishments include Busta Rhymes 'Woo Hah!' (as Origin Unknown - which won Best Remix at the 1996 Muzik Magazine Awards), Adam F 'Circles', and Jay-Z 'Can't Knock The Hustle'. Andy also won the best D&B DJ award on Drum & Bass arena in 2001 & 2002 where in excess of 90,000 people voted, and again at Accelerated Culture's 'Peoples Choice Awards' in December 2002. Andy is also the highest ranking D&B DJ in the current DJ magazine Top 100 DJs placed at No. 28.
